Think about how surreal it would be for you to interview someone from your favorite band.
…then try not to freak out when they call you on the phone so that you can conduct an interview about their upcoming project(s). And if you know me, you’ll know how difficult it was for me not to jump out of my skin when I was given the opportunity to record an interview with P-Nut from 311.
I don’t tend to get star struck, and I have met the band at their 3-11 Day concert during a meet and greet the following day in 2010, but getting 15 minutes of uninterrupted time with P-Nut, the bassist of the band and all-around great guy, is a whole different ballgame.
I hope newcomers and fans of the band alike can take interest to the interview where I had to whittle down about 30 or so questions to just a handful in the interest of time. I could’ve talked to P-Nut for hours if his time was infinite, but being in the midst of a sprawling tour with over 25 stops across the country, I couldn’t hog his time all to myself.
We discuss how the band has withstood the test of time by being able to tour every year since coming on to the scene in the early 90’s (with the exception of ’98), write/record 11 albums, and still be able to stand each other when it’s all said and done. Celebrating their 25th anniversary with a box-set of unreleased tracks and B-Sides (81 songs in total) and a 60 page photo album entitled: Archive, P-Nut talks about collaborating with other band mates and how he has been contributing to the band’s upcoming 12th album, as well as how songs for albums are selected and plans for an upcoming home video release of the long-requested but never confirmed Enlarged to Show Detail 3!
