Taken 3

Main Plot Points:

  • The hunter becomes the hunted when Liam Neeson returns as former CIA operative Bryan Mills, who finds himself framed for the brutal murder of his ex-wife (Famke Janssen).
  • Consumed with rage, and pursued by a savvy police inspector (Forest Whitaker), Mills must rely on his “particular set of skills” one last time to find the real killers, clear his name, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter (Maggie Grace).

What We Thought:

  • I’ve been pretty vocal about him much I didn’t enjoy the first two Taken films. Despite the terrific trailers and Liam Neeson bang a bad-ass — which I quite enjoy usually — I just don’t think the films are very good.
  • Cue Taken 3, the most unnecessary of the three, and probably the one I enjoyed the most. That’s probably because I’ve always loved those one-man-on-the-run stories. But I don’t want to overstate things and say it’s actually a good movie.
  • While it’s not a terrible action movie, it’s just so mediocre. Sure, it’s got plenty of violence and action, but the movie is completely soulless. The dialogue and “character” building are terrible, and even the fight sequences have no heart to them. It’s just a corporate-driven, by-the-numbers shoot-em-up.
  • That said, it’s easy to watch, and it’ll kill 90 minutes effectively. If you enjoyed the first two, you should like this one. Then again, since I din’t like the first two and everyone else did, people will probably hate this one just because I semi-kind-of liked it.
