What We Thought:
There have been several “Vault” books so far, and I’ve reviewed four of them previous top this: Alien, Transformers, Star Trek, and Spider-Man. I’ve also loved every one of them so far.
The Avengers Vault is no different. This book takes an in-depth look at the history of the popular franchise and presents itself as sort of a “museum in a book.” The Avengers Vault is the most detailed, exacting history of the comic book heroes I’ve ever seen.
Coming in at a solid 176 pages, the book traces the evolution of the comics from the early ’60s to the modern comics to the movies, and everything in between.
But the real icing on the cake is the “museum” potion of the book, which places envelopes throughout the book that include pull-out archival materials, such as reproductions of posters, fan club materials, promo materials, comic book covers, and more.
As a full-licensed making-of, this is no cheap fanzine-based “book,” it’s the best DVD extra you can get that’s not on a DVD. And it is PACKED. Trust me, it will take you a very long time to read this book, it’s both thorough and thoroughly entertaining!
