The Avengers Vault

Main Plot Points:

  • Captain America, The Mighty Thor, The Invincible Iron Man, and The Incredible Hulk! These are the Marvel Avengers that have captured our hearts and imaginations as heroes likely and unlikely, and too magnificent to be true.
  • Learn the history of these fictional icons with Marvel’s The Avengers Vault, a guided tour through the union of “earth’s mightiest heroes and heroines,” led by award-winning author and Avengers insider, Peter A. David. The book includes a thorough overview of each of the four most prominent Avengers and introduces a myriad of other characters from the Winter Solider to Fandral the Dashing, Hogun the Grim, Edwin Jarvis, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and many more.
  • Covering everything from the release of the first Avengers comic in 1963 to the blockbuster movies of today, Marvel’s The Avengers Vault even contains removable reproductions that include Captain America’s Sentinels of Liberty membership card, specialty original art by Jack Kirby, early drawings of Iron Man, and a complete Marvel mini-book. A treasure trove of Avenger moments and memorabilia, this set is perfect for avid comic enthusiasts and newbies alike.

What We Thought:

  • There have been several “Vault” books so far, and I’ve reviewed four of them previous top this: Alien, Transformers, Star Trek, and Spider-Man. I’ve also loved every one of them so far.
  • The Avengers Vault is no different. This book takes an in-depth look at the history of the popular franchise and presents itself as sort of a “museum in a book.” The Avengers Vault is the most detailed, exacting history of the comic book heroes I’ve ever seen.
  • Coming in at a solid 176 pages, the book traces the evolution of the comics from the early ’60s to the modern comics to the movies, and everything in between.
  • But the real icing on the cake is the “museum” potion of the book, which places envelopes throughout the book that include pull-out archival materials, such as reproductions of posters, fan club materials, promo materials, comic book covers, and more.
  • As a full-licensed making-of, this is no cheap fanzine-based “book,” it’s the best DVD extra you can get that’s not on a DVD. And it is PACKED. Trust me, it will take you a very long time to read this book, it’s both thorough and thoroughly entertaining!
