What We Thought:

  • With the Denzel Washington movie in theaters, the time was perfect for The Equalizer: The Complete Series to hit DVD.
  • This is a show that lasted four seasons, but until now, only the first season has been available on DVD.
  • I expected the show to have aged horribly, but it actually holds up rather well, with some good action scenes, great performances by Edward Woodward, and more humor than I remember.
  • Watching the series in order like this, it’s interesting to see that there’s a bit of an overarching mythology to the whole thing, much more so than was present in most ’80s TV shows.
  • This massive box set collects all four seasons — WITH their original music by Stewart Copeland of The Police — and adds in some cool bonus features.
  • This one really is a must-have for fans of the show, especially because it holds up so well.
